Database Administrator


The Data Base Administrator (DBA) is responsible for providing technical support for the database environment including overseeing the administration, development and organization of the databases; assessment and implementation of new technologies, and for providing Information Technology with a long-term perspective on the relationship of database technology to the business opportunities facing the company.

The DBA works with IT dev team to develop technical solutions to address complex problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity. This role requires constant interaction with core infrastructure architecture team and application development community to deliver robust and scalable database platform infrastructure.



Thorough understanding of database concepts, architecture, features and practices
Expert level MS SQL Server 2008, 2008 R2, 2012 and 2014 management and configuration
High transaction rates, heavy I/O needs, real time data sync capabilities, and clustering.
Serves as lead point of contact for database issues
Scope, plan and manage database administration projects and SQL upgrades.
Evaluate and address database performance and data audit requirements for application development projects.
Standardize and manage Database Administrator procedures for monitoring database performance, testing, archiving, and optimizing.
Design and implement processes and standards for database systems recovery and back-up checks as well as user performance and data security.
Develop and maintain full technical knowledge of all systems.
Work as part of the development team, QA team, release team and with the project managers to coordinate data development and determine project scope to optimize the efficiency of the organization’s business processes and manage projects to successful completion
Analyze database functions and recommend to the Manager of Production procedures to streamline systems.
Participate in Project Management and IT department meetings by offering support and suggestions for the execution and development of project and work plans. Share knowledge and expertise with fellow team members.
Other duties may be assigned to accomplish company or department objectives.

5+ years of Data Base Management
Strong working experience of MS SQL Server 2008R2/2012/2014 database management
Hands on experience implementing monitoring tools and dashboards to address performance
Working experience of architecting and implementing SQL Server clustering, replication, log shipping and Always-on solutions.



Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution
MS SQL Server certification


Other Skills and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of Windows servers and settings, networks, databases and other IT infrastructure
Knowledge of Capacity Planning and Management, implementing archiving strategies.
Knowledge of enterprise datawarehouse areas using Informatica solutions.
Strong problem solving and multi-tasking skills (technical and non-technical)
Strong knowledge of MS Office products.
