Facility Maintenance Lead

SUMMARY

Responsible for the maintenance and the upkeep of the company’s equipment, building(s) and grounds in a manner that minimizes interruptions in warehousing / corporate operations and assures employee safety. Develops programs to extend equipment life and reliability and to assure safe operations at every level.  Supervises the entire maintenance department staff. Act as a technical resource to internal/external customers / vendors to address and resolve inquiries and problems. Work with external providers of services necessary in the upkeep of corporate offices / Warehouse and Company grounds. Responsible for all training on equipment and training of company products to existing and new hire employees.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Properly train employees on designated power equipment.
  • Inspect building facilities to identify building maintenance needs; identify and report building maintenance needs.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance program for all equipment and facilities that will minimize disruptions in warehouse operations and ensure the maximum useful life of the equipment.
  • Monitor all materials handling equipment, maintenance activities, making sure that all equipment is serviced as required.
  • Provide maintenance of vehicles, building(s), company grounds and general maintenance service as needed in a cost effective manner.
  • Audit the warehouse and offices areas on a regular basis to assure buildings and equipment are safe and ready to operate.
  • Make recommendations to management on programs to improve the maintenance function.
  • Develop maintenance programs to respond to unexpected or emergency situations.
  • Develop and implement a reporting system for tracking building and equipment maintenance and repair, lead and monitor preventive maintenance programs.
  • Direct operations of the maintenance work team to achieve set objectives.
  • Assemble equipment as needed.
  • Order necessary supplies for the warehouse.
  • Other duties may be assigned to accomplish company or department objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years of experience required in building facilities maintenance.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in conveyor systems/controls.
  • Knowledge of warehouse safety OSHA standards
  • 2+ years of related experience in material handling equipment
  • MSDS sheets knowledge

 

Education:

  • B.S. or B.A. degree preferred
  • An AA degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance a plus

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Tools and equipment used in building maintenance and repair work.
  • Working knowledge of conveyor systems and controls.
  • Working knowledge of Crown equipment.
  • Skill to effectively organize and communicate as required for performance appraisals and coaching/counseling activities
  • Must be proficient with computer skills (Microsoft office products)
  • Ability to meet maintenance deadlines.
  • Great people skills.
  • Ability to use computer software to generate reports as needed, performance appraisals and coaching/counseling activities
  • Ability to handle multiple projects, while working under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to sit, stands, walks regularly and occasionally lifts up to 50 pounds
  • Operating in a collaborative environment
  • Well-developed organizational and communication skills.
  • Certified forklift driver preferred
  • Certified forklift trainer preferred
